NOT ONE, BUT TWO BROKEN TV'S

Working from home during #lockdown has been a challenge to say the least.

When Mitia got a PC earlier this year (the saviour) we started using it downstairs with the TV connected as the monitor. It was all well and good until we went to watch a movie and Cubase was still visible on the screen!!! We panicked and started watching #YouTube #hacks about how to fix it. We turned our living room into a technicolour strobe party trying to 'trick' the pixels into forgetting all about Cubase and moving on with their existence... 24hrs in... it sort of worked. But we still have a visible toolbar that wont budge on the TV.

So... what did we do? We got the TV from the bedroom, and set it up in the music room. It's as if we completely forgot what had happened to the TV downstairs!

Before you start to wonder why we didnt buy a monitor after the TV broke... it was Christmas time, Covid, and we had a tune to finish!

Literally 2 days in, solidly working on the tune we remember that the screen needs time to rest otherwise it will break. So we go off Cubase .... and we can still see Cubase..... AAARGH we have done it again!!!!

We found ourselves a monitor from Facebook Marketplace in the end. Finally OMG.

...But this is a message to anyone who thinks it will be OK using a TV as a monitor... It's probably fine if you aren't staying on one screen for extended periods. Is it worth risking it? How much do you like your TV? Will you cry if it breaks? If so ... GET A MONITOR LIKE ANY NORMAL PERSON GAHHD xo

Alpha Corvus have eased you into the ILLUSIONS album with our first 3 releases.

Our first 3 releases will feature on the 'light' side of ILLUSIONS.

'In the Clouds' gives you a glimpse into the 'dark' side. It was originally written many years ago, and was played acoustically. However, when Alpha Corvus decided to collaborate our ideas and record the track, it turned into something so much more than we expected. There are elements of inspiration from much of the music we like to listen to, and the song has really been transformed into a journey. It also introduces you to the sound you will be more familiar with on the 'dark' side of the ILLUSIONS album.

Our other two releases 'YOUR TIME' and 'THINKING OF YOU' are lo fi and psychedelic alt rock, and that is much of what to expect on the 'light' side...

' DARK ' ILLUSIONS // B SIDE ... IS HEAVY!

We have been working on 'CHRYSALIS' which will be our final single release before the full album launch, and it will be the first 'dark' track for us to release!

EXPECT.... 'Djentiness' , harmonies , and post apocalyptic video footage .

We went to extra lengths to produce this side of the album, and have been able to upgrade some of our fossilised gear too.

We would like to thank #GGD #GetGoodDrums for enhancing the new and improved Alpha Corvus sound on the B side of ILLUSIONS thanks to the Matt Halpern P4 Kit.

Since writing our #blog post about making our first music video for 'In the Clouds', we have been fortunate to get a new computer and #DaVinciResolve. We never imagined that we would still be in #lockdown for the release of our new single 'Thinking of You' - but here we are in October now!

It has been a learning curve and we are still far from considering ourselves 'video editors' but we have really made the most of our time at home, and enjoyed making this one.
